Data center development continues at a blistering pace across the Metroplex. The latest example can be seen at a site in southeast Plano, nestled in a quiet area surrounded by both industrial buildings and neighborhood homes.
Aligned Data Centers LLC is hard at work on advanced stages of construction for the 425,000-square-foot, two-story building at 601 N. Star Road. The company plans to wrap up the initial buildout in the second quarter.
It’s being developed in phases for Lambda Inc., a cloud-computing company backed by Nvidia. The $700 million project will eventually have 72 megawatts of computing power and is expected to be fully completed next year, said Gregg Poole, vice president of platform execution at Aligned.
Poole expects the first 9 megawatts will be ready for Lambda to begin installing servers in June, with additional capacity coming online in 9-megawatt increments as construction progresses.
