Four new Houston restaurants were honored as some of the tops in the state.
HOUSTON — If you’re someplace new for a date night, girls’ dinner, celebration, or a special occasion, Texas Monthly just released its annual list of the 10 best new restaurants in Texas. Â
And no surprise to anyone who dines out locally often — four of those 10 were right here in Houston. Texas Monthly named Agnes and Sherman Restaurant of the Year. The spot in the Heights is mainly an Asian-American diner but incorporates flavors from all over the world. Some of the most beloved dishes include a French dip sandwich  you can dunk in a spiced Taiwanese beef broth, as well as its savory scallion waffles served with warm honey butter. Â
Zaranda in downtown Houston, another chef Hugo Ortega restaurant, also made the list. Texas Monthly called it an ode to the western coast of both the U.S. and Mexico with delicious seafood dishes such as clams, fish, lobster, and octopus.Â
And Di An Pho was also given a nod, located in Bellaire, hailed for its chicken and beef.Â
And finally, Latuli in Memorial Villages. Houston chef Brian Caswell calls it his autobiography on a menu with elevated American favorites like crab cakes, pork chops, and mussels.
You can see the full list of 10 on the Texas Monthly website.
