A 23-year-old woman died Thursday morning after a collision between her moped and a car in Arlington, police said.

Officers responded to the intersection of Carter and Sunflower drives at 8:36 a.m. following reports of a crash. Investigators found the woman trapped beneath a 2014 Nissan Sentra.

According to police, the woman was riding a 2026 Yamaha Vino moped north on Carter Drive when the Nissan driver pulled out from an alleyway and into her path. The woman attempted to lay the moped on its side to avoid an impact but fell and was struck by the vehicle.

The woman, who identity has not been made public, was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. No charges have been filed and the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the woman’s identity once next of kin have been notified.
