SAN ANTONIO – Travelers flying out of San Antonio International Airport are being urged to plan as Transportation Security Administration agents go without their first full paychecks because of a partial federal government shutdown.

As of today, TSA agents will not get their first full paychecks. Checkpoints remain open, and TSA workers are still on the job, but they are not being paid.

A check of the flight board at San Antonio International Airport showed no delays for any flights. Still, the lack of pay could lead to staff shortages, which could mean longer wait times and possible travel disruptions.

Experts recommend arriving at the airport earlier than usual, especially for international flights. Travelers are advised to consider arriving four to five hours early to get through customs, monitor airline apps for real-time updates, and allow extra time for security screening.

TSA employees are expected to receive back pay only once funding is restored.
