Flour Bluff has gone 8-2 against Gregory-Portland recently and they’ll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Hornets will take on the Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
On Monday, Flour Bluff made easy work of Alice and carried off an 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Sidney Gerlach, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Kynslee Owens was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Flour Bluff was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That was just more of the same: they’ve now posted a batting average of .455 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Gregory-Portland made easy work of Alice on Wednesday and carried off a 23-2 win. With that victory, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Emily LaFavers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn’t tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter’s box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Gregory-Portland got a massive performance out of Emily Cameron, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs, three RBI, and one double. Cameron continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she’s played. Another player making a difference was Cadence Sandoval, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Flour Bluff’s record is now 15-7-1. As for Gregory-Portland, their record now sits at 9-13-2.
Friday’s game will be a test for both teams’ pitchers. Flour Bluff hasn’t had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .374. However, it’s not like Gregory-Portland struggles in that department as they’ve averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Flour Bluff was able to grind out a solid win over Gregory-Portland in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, winning 4-1. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We’ll find out soon enough.
