SAN ANTONIO — Police blocked off several downtown streets Friday afternoon after an armed suspect took to a restaurant rooftop.
Officers were called just before noon to the 800 block of South Presa Street for a criminal mischief call.
A suspect armed with a knife could be seen walking on the roof of a restaurant building, which was abandoned. Police surrounded the area and could be heard yelling back and forth with the man.
Police say that the suspect had been experiencing a mental health crisis and could be seen throwing items off the roof of the building.
The man was taken into custody after nearly an hour. It’s unclear what charges, if any, he will face. It’s unconfirmed if the building was damaged by the suspect.
