KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Behind a career-high 26 points from David Punch, No. 6 seed TCU defeated No. 14 seed Oklahoma State, 95-88, in the second round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Tournament Wednesday at T-Mobile Center.
 
The Horned Frogs (22-10) trailed by as many as 10 points with 13:48 remaining. The Cowboys (19-14) shot 49.3 percent from the field but went without a field goal in the final 3:21.
 
TCU trailed for the majority of the game and by three points, 46-43, at halftime. The Frogs fought back to trail by just one point, 82-81, with 5:19 to play. Xavier Edmonds scored on the very next possession and TCU kept the lead to the final buzzer. Edmonds recorded his 11th double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds after picking up two early fouls.
 
Jayden Pierre scored 11 of his 13 points in the second half including a big 3-point that gave TCU an 81-80 lead with 5:50 remaining, which was the Frogs’ first advantage since scoring the first five points of the second half.
 
Tanner Toolson came off the bench to score 19 points, which included several put-back scores. He recorded seven rebounds, including five on the offensive end.
 
TCU outrebounded OSU, 39-35, which included 19 offensive rebounds which led to 27 second chance points.
 
The Horned Frogs will face No. 14 ranked and third-seeded Kansas in the quarterfinals at 8:30 p.m. Thursday on ESPN2.
 
TEAM NOTES
– TCU improved to 18-29 all-time against Oklahoma State and defeated the Cowboys for the sixth-straight time.
– TCU defeated OSU for the third time this season. It was the first time TCU beat a team three times in the same season since defeating San Jose State three times in 2000.
– The 95 points scored was the most by the Frogs at the Big 12 Tournament.
– TCU trailed by 10 points with 13:48 remaining. It was the Frogs’ fifth win when trailing by double digits this season.
– TCU improved to 3-0 in neutral site games and 8-5 away from home this season.
– TCU improved to 11-13 all-time and 9-9 under Jamie Dixon at T-Mobile Center.
– TCU improved to 9-13 all-time in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Tournament.   
– TCU is 8-1 since Micah Robinson was inserted into the starting lineup eight games ago.
– TCU outrebounded OSU, 39-35. The Frogs improved to 18-3 this season and 158-47 under Dixon when outrebounding their opponent.
– TCU committed seven turnovers. It was the 12th time this season TCU had less than 10 turnovers.
– TCU had a season-high 27 second chance points. 
– OSU led for 31:28. TCU led for 7:00.
 
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
David Punch scored a career-high 26 points. It was the sixth time he scored 20 or more points this season and in his career.
– Punch’s 26 points ties for the most by a Frog at the Big 12 Tournament with Emanuel Miller who had 26 against Oklahoma in 2024.
– Punch was 2-for-2 from 3-point range, which tied a career high for makes.
Xavier Edmonds had 14 points and 11 rebounds for his 11th double-double of the season which ties Kevin Samuel for the third-most by a TCU player under Dixon.
– Edmonds was 1-for-2 from 3-point range. It was the sixth-straight game he made a 3-pointer.
Tanner Toolson scored 19 points, the most he’s had in 16 games. It was the 11th time he scored in double figures.
Jayden Pierre scored 13 points. It was his third-straight game in double figures and the 16th time this season.
– Pierre had a team-high five assists for the second-straight game.
