SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Water System will host its annual Spring Bloom event Saturday, offering expert gardening advice and incentives for water-saving landscape transformations.
The free, family-friendly event will take place at SAWS headquarters at 2800 U.S. Highway 281 N. (at Mulberry Ave). The first 1,000 adults in attendance will receive a free drought-hardy plant.
Experts from SAWS and local horticultural organizations will be on-site to provide tips on conservation, landscaping and the new ConnectH2O electronic water meters. You can also purchase native and low-water-use ornamental plants from partner organizations.
The event marks the debut of the updated SAWS Landscape Care Guide. The new edition incorporates lessons learned from recent freezes and ongoing drought conditions to help residents maintain contemporary gardens in the San Antonio area.
Homeowners looking to renovate their yards can learn about several SAWS incentive programs:
WaterSaver Landscape Coupons: A $125 discount on plants for new garden beds is available to those who remove 200 square feet of lawn and irrigation.
Outdoor Living Rebate: Savings are available for residents installing new decks or patios.
