Texas A&M baseball led for much of the night Friday, but a late-inning surge gave Oklahoma an 8-7 victory.

Thanks to a leadoff single by outfielder Jason Walk, followed by outfielder Trey Gimball getting hit by a pitch and catcher Brendan Brock being intentionally walked, the Sooners (16-2, 1-0 SEC) loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth.

The Aggies (15-2, 0-1) jumped on Oklahoma early, batting around the order and scoring four runs in the top of the first. They added another run in the third.

However, the Sooners responded early, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning before adding two more in the third. They tied the game at 7-7 in the bottom of the sixth with back-to-back home runs by catcher Brendan Brock and shortstop Jaxon Willits.

Both starting pitchers struggled, with neither getting past the third inning.

Aggies’ starting pitcher Shane Sdao had his worst outing of the young season. The left-hander pitched 3⅔ innings, giving up four runs on eight hits, while striking out two batters on 84 pitches.

The Sooners’ starting pitcher, Cameron Johnson, struggled from the jump as well. The lefty lasted just 2⅓ innings, allowing five runs, one hit, with two strikeouts while walking seven on 76 pitches. He came into the game having led up just five walks all season.

Next up for the Aggies is Saturday as Weston Moss gets the ball, looking to even the series.

Walk singled to left field to start the inning before Gambill was hit by a pitch to put two on. Johnson then sac-bunted to advance the runners. A&M then intentionally walked Brock to load the bases. Harris then hit a sac-fly to take the lead.
