The Philadelphia Eagles have been actively exploring the trade market for wide receiver A.J. Brown. However, it has now been reported that Brown will not be traded at this point in time.

It is possible that the Eagles could change their opinion and trade him later on in the offseason. That being said, there are other storylines to note surrounding the team as well.

One of those storylines has to do with the future of fan-favorite tight end Dallas Goedert.

A new turn has taken place between the two parties on Friday evening. According to a report from The Athletic’s Zach Berman, Philadelphia and Goedert have pushed back the void date on his contract until Monday.

“The Eagles and Dallas Goedert have pushed the void date on his contract back to Monday, league sources told @TheAthletic,” Berman wrote on X. “They had previously set a deadline for this afternoon.”

Berman also provided more context about the move will accomplish for the Eagles.

This allows the Eagles to continue negotiating with Goedert,” Berman wrote. “The Eagles would need to release him if no agreement is reached and incur a cap hit of $20M+. (The salary cap picture also has ramifications on a potential A.J. Brown trade.)”

Dallas Goedert Has Been Expected to Re-Sign With the Eagles

Even though he’s a free agent and free to sign with any NFL team, the expectation has been that Goedert will wind up back in Philadelphia.

Goedert, who was originally drafted with the No. 49 overall pick in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Eagles, has put together a successful career with the franchise. Fans in Philadelphia love him and a reunion makes the most sense.

During the 2025 season with the Eagles, the 31-year-old tight end played in 15 games and caught 60 passes for 591 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Over the years, Goedert has become a favorite target for quarterback Jalen Hurts. Letting him walk in free agency would be a setback for Philadelphia.

What Have the Eagles Done So Far in NFL Free Agency?

Howie Roseman has made a few moves so far this offseason.

Most notably, the Eagles agreed to terms on a one-year deal with free agent cornerback Riq Woolen that could pay him up to $15 million. They have also signed linebacker Arnold Ebiketie, cornerback Jonathan Jones, tight end Johnny Mundt, and re-signed both punter Braden Mann and tight end Grant Calcaterra.

It hasn’t been the busiest offseason for Philadelphia, but some quality moves have been made. Now, the Eagles will need to figure out the future of Goedert.

Expect to hear more news about the veteran tight end over the weekend. The most likely outcome is that the two sides figure out a new deal, but that isn’t a lock at this point in time.
