Another dominant showing from Texas softball pitcher Teagan Kavan helped the Longhorns stretch their winning streak to 22 games with a 3-1 win over visiting Ole Miss Friday in the first of a three-game SEC series.

Kavan matched her season high with 12 strikeouts while improving to 10-0 with the complete-game win. She also picked up her seventh complete-game win of the season. Over the past nine games, Kavan has allowed a total of just 30 hits and 12 runs.

The No. 3 Longhorns (24-1, 4-0 SEC) enter the second game of the series Saturday at 11 a.m. at McCombs Field on the second-longest winning streak in program history and the longest since winning a program-record 24 straight games in 2006.

Junior center fielder Kayden Henry paced Texas offensively by going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. She also raised her season steals total to 16 by stealing second base twice, including once in the first inning when she eventually scored on a single by senior left fielder Kaiah Altmeyer to give the Longhorns the quick lead.

The lone run for Ole Miss (19-9, 0-4) came on a solo home run in the sixth inning by second baseman Mackenzie Pickens.
