Calallen is a perfect 7-0 against Zapata since April of 2021 and they’ll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wildcats will welcome the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won’t be so lucky on Tuesday.
Zapata will be up against a hot Calallen squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. The Wildcats’ pitchers stepped up to hand King a 16-0 shutout on Friday. 16 seems to be a good number for the Wildcats as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Addison Juarez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Juarez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Hannah Thibodeaux looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What’s more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she’s had since back in February.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Braelyn Bailey, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and one triple while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Cody Forbes was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Calallen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as King only posted an OBP of .250.
Zapata not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since February 12th (when they won 12-0). They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over Robstown.
Not much got past Karly Alvarenga, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Robstown off the board. Alvarenga has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn’t tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jerikah Sanchez was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Regina DelBosque, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.
Zapata’s victory bumped their record up to 11-7-2. As for Calallen, their win bumped their record up to 16-8-1.
Tuesday’s game will be a test for both teams’ pitchers. Calallen hasn’t had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .358. However, it’s not like Zapata struggles in that department as they’ve averaged .382. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Calallen’s way against Zapata in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Calallen made off with a 10-0 victory. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We’ll find out soon enough.
