Plano East improved to 3-3 in district play with two crucial wins this week: a 5-3 road win over Prosper Rock Hill on March 11 and a 5-4 triumph over crosstown rival Plano on Friday.
Kayleigh Miller came through in the clutch Friday, with a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the game for the Lady Panthers. Julia Wilson, who reached on a one-out single, scored.
The hit capped a big night at the plate for Miller, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two doubles.
Savannah Leonard worked around eight hits to earn the win.
Plano East overcame deficits of 2-0, 3-2 and 4-3.
Against Rock Hill, Emerson Bailey hit an RBI single in the fifth that put Plano East ahead 4-1. Her hit was part of a three-run inning that broke a 1-1 tie. Bailey accounted for two of the seven hits for the Lady Panthers.
Leonard struck out five and allowed just one earned run over seven effective innings.
