Barbara was born in Alvarado, Texas, to Pearl Johnston Norris and Kingston Norris, both of whom preceded her in death. She grew up with a strong sense of faith, family, and resilience that she carried throughout her life. Barbara was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and believed deeply in the importance of family. Barbara shared 44 loving years of marriage with her husband, Bobby Sanders, the love of her life. Bobby often lovingly referred to Barbara as “the flower of his heart.” Together, they built a life centered around faith, family, laughter, and the joy of raising their children. Barbara spent many years working at Albertsons, Lowe’s, and Home Depot, where she was known for her outgoing personality and friendly spirit. She was also known by many as the “Bird Lady” at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Fort Worth, where for many years she faithfully cared for her exotic birds, making sure they were fed and cared for every single day. Barbara loved the simple things in life-playing games on her phone, watching Christmas movies and shows, bowling, doing puzzles, and spending time laughing with her family. She had a bright personality, an unforgettable smile, and a sense of humor that made everyone around her laugh. She was known for her jokes, especially the famous “Bus joke,” and for her favorite word, “whatever.” Her nickname, “Felicia,” became part of the fun-loving personality everyone cherished. Barbara also had a playful side at home and was known for lovingly “bossing” Bobby around, something that always brought smiles to their family. Above all, she loved her family deeply. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy. Barbara’s love, laughter, and bright spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord. Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Jyntri DeFazio, and her brothers, Jerry Norris and Lawrence Norris. Barbara is survived by her husband, Bobby Sanders; their children, son, Sam Sanders; daughters, Kerri DeFazio and her husband, Phillip DeFazio, and Erica Russell and her husband, James “JD” Russell. Barbara was a proud grandmother to Macen DeFazio and his wife, Cheyenne DeFazio, Tyler DeFazio and his wife, Maddie DeFazio, Zackery DeFazio, Khayla Leyendecker and her husband, Stephen Leyendecker, Gunner Howell, Cayden Russell, and Eric Russell.
