FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth officers and bystanders rescued an infant trapped under an overturned vehicle after a crash this week. The Fort Worth Police Department shared body camera video of the dramatic rescue on social media.Â
Officers were called to the crash on I-30 between Eastchase Parkway and Cooks Lane around 9:30 a.m. Oct. 23, Fort Worth police say. The 911 call details indicated a one-year-old child and a woman, the child’s mother, were ejected from the vehicle, police say.Â

The body camera video showed people searching around the car in a grassy area as officers arrived and helped search under the overturned vehicle.Â
“Under here, we need to move the car,” an officer can be heard saying in the video.Â
The officers and bystanders moved the car enough for the baby to be pulled from under it. The officers then began performing CPR on the baby, who was unconscious, police said.Â
“She has a pulse. Is she breathing, though?” an officer asked before an officer said he could feel the child breathing.Â
Eventually, the baby can be heard making noises and crying.
“Yes, cry, please,” a person said.Â
MedStar arrived on scene, and police say the woman and child are in stable condition and are expected to make a full recovery.Â
“We are beyond proud of the life saving actions performed by Sgt. Nichols and Officer Bounds for their bravery and quick response to this terrible scene. We are also grateful to the Fort Worth citizens who saw someone in danger and, without hesitation, assisted our officers,” the Fort Worth Police Department shared in a post on social media.Â
Fort Worth Police Chief Eddie Garcia praised the officers in a post on social media.Â
“Our prayers are with this little angel as a full recovery is expected. Â But unbelievable heroism shown by these officers. They made @fortworthpd and the entire @cityoffortworth proud. Not quite sure a better example of PROTECT and SERVE, exists,” Garcia wrote.Â
