Plano ISD hosted a packed board room over two evenings for the district’s spelling bees, which were held on January 6 and 7.
Each elementary and middle school campus conducts campus-level bees and sends one representative (elementary) and three representatives (middle school) to compete at the district bee. Three elementary and three middle school students then advanced to the Collin County Spelling Bee to compete against some of the most competitive spellers in the region.
Representing Plano ISD at the County Bee are:
Vibhav Ragavan Venkata Raghavan, Stinson ES, 3rd grade
Shiv Nandakumar, Beverly ES, 5th grade
Indra Sriram, Skaggs ES, 5th grade
Benjamin Mao, Renner MS, 8th grade
Zara Jabeen, Rice MS, 8th grade
Siddharth Hari, Murphy MS, 8th grade
Plano ISD will host the Collin County Bee on the evening of February 5 at the Plano Senior High School auditorium. The event is open to the public and will feature a special guest speaker: Plano ISD student and 2005 Scripps National Spelling Bee Champion Faizan Zaki.
Congratulations to all of our students who participated, and best of luck to these six students at the County Bee!
