Severe storms swept through parts of Texas on Friday night, October 24, bringing in heavy rain, strong winds, and potential tornadoes.

Reports from local storm chasers indicate that the potential tornado struck sometime between 21:00 and 21:30 local time (LT) on Friday. It reportedly tracked a narrow path near McCart near the I-20 and moved towards Berry along the westbound I-35.

Widespread damage was reported across the area; as the storm downed powerlines, ripped off billboards, and caused roof damage. The National Weather Service (NWS) received multiple reports of the unwarned tornado, but has yet to confirm it.

“We’ve seen lots of social media comments on reports of a tornado in South Fort Worth tonight. While reports are helpful, we need ground truth info instead of radar screenshots. If you have actual reports of damage, please send them. Damage pics with location are most helpful,” said the NWS.

The severe weather is expected to continue moving over central Texas starting Saturday afternoon and will intensify before moving southeastward later through the night.

A major house fire was also reported south of Hughes Avenue on Friday night. While social media reports stated it was caused by the severe weather, no official confirmations have been made.
