LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Former City Councilman Gary Boren has announced his candidacy for the District 4 seat.
Boren’s bid comes after Councilman Brayden Rose announced his resignation last week.
The special election will fill the seat recently vacated by Councilman Brayden Rose.
Boren has decades of leadership experience in business and public service. He previously served on the Lubbock City Council and as President of the Lubbock ISD Board of Trustee.
“Every decision I’ve ever made in public service has been guided by one thing, Lubbock values,” Boren said. “I’ve always stood with the taxpayers, families & small businesses who built this community, and I always will.”
Boren resigned from his council seat in 2007.
Governor Greg Abbott recently appointed Boren to the Brazos River Authority Board because of his experience in water resources and long-term planning.
Boren says he looks forward to sharing more of his plans and vision for Lubbock.
Rose will continue to represent the district until a successor is elected. The city council will announce a special election date during its next scheduled meeting.
