SAN ANTONIO – A high-speed pursuit on San Antonio’s West Side ended with a wanted suspect in custody and a loaded handgun recovered.
According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, the sheriff’s office said that on March 10, 2026, a BCSO deputy tried to stop a red Dodge Challenger for reckless driving near the 7500 block of Marbach Road.
Investigators identified the driver as Anthony Lee Villarreal, 37, and said he refused to yield, leading deputies on a pursuit that ended near Pleasure Park Road.
BCSO said Villarreal got out of the vehicle and ran. During a short foot chase, deputies saw him pull a handgun from his waistband and throw it away, the sheriff’s office said. He was then apprehended and taken into custody without further incident.
Deputies recovered the discarded weapon, which BCSO identified as a loaded Bond Arms .357 caliber revolver. A records check showed Villarreal had an active warrant for unlawful possession of a firearm, the sheriff’s office said. BCSO said Villarreal later told investigators he ran because of the outstanding warrant.
Villarreal was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on the warrant for unlawful possession of a firearm, along with additional charges of evading arrest with a vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and evading arrest on foot, according to BCSO. His total bond was set at $60,000.
