It seems like Troy Aikman is enjoying NFL front office work.
The Dallas Cowboys icon recently spent some time as a consultant for the Miami Dolphins as they searched for a new general manager and head coach. In an appearance on the “Rodeo Time Podcast” with Dale Brisby, Aikman said he would continue to work with the Dolphins.
He wasn’t clear on what kind of role he would hold with the franchise.
“This year, the Dolphins reached out to me and asked if I would help them in their GM search and head coaching search. It kind of caught me out of left field. I wasn’t expecting that,” Aikman said. “I dove into it and decided I would do it. Thoroughly enjoyed it and felt like I was of some help.

“Where that might go, I’m not sure. I’m going to continue to work with them in some capacity.”
Aikman added that his work with Miami has “scratched whatever itch” he had for working in an NFL front office. When asked if he would ever be interested in coaching, the Pro Football Hall of Famer reiterated that he would only take on front office work.
Aikman held off on taking a front office role for several years, saying he felt it would be “selfish” to pursue a new gig when he could be spending time with his young daughters. He felt the timing was right for a new role after his youngest daughter graduated from high school in 2021.
After his playing career ended, Aikman has found success in the football broadcasting world. He currently serves as ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” analyst, working next to Joe Buck.
