A driver was arrested for driving while intoxicated after colliding with a truck that spilled bananas onto US 75, police said.
PLANO, Texas — A driver was arrested after colliding with a semi-truck carrying bananas on U.S. 75 in Plano, officials said.Â
Officers responded to an overturned 18-wheeler carrying a load of bananas around 2:50 a.m. in the northbound lanes of U.S. 75 near the Legacy Drive exit, the Plano Police Department said in a press release.Â
First responders found that a vehicle allegedly changed lanes in front of a semi-truck, causing the driver to overcorrect and leave the highway, the release states. The truck then hit a pole and overturned, police said.Â
The driver of the vehicle was arrested for driving while intoxicated, the release states.Â
The northbound service road of U.S. 75 from Spring Creek Parkway to Legacy Drive and the Legacy exit ramp were closed for many hours overnight, police said. Officials worked to clear the crash and the truck’s load of bananas from the roadway.Â
