Kindness from New Jersey to Texas, as the Clark Police Department in New Jersey reunited a lost dog with its North Texas owners.
On March 4, a citizen contacted the Clark Police Department about a dog roaming in a park in Clark Township, New Jersey.
Patrolman Nick Kurus responded to the call and took the dog back to the police department headquarters.
At headquarters, a chip reader was used successfully to identify the number of a pet finder service.
Kurus contacted the service and was able to retrieve a name and phone number for the last recorded owner of the dog.
When Kurus contacted the last recorded owners from Glenn Heights, Texas, they were stunned to receive the call.
They informed Kurus that their dog, Koko, had gone missing two years ago in Texas.
Members of the Clark Police Department cared for the dog for a couple of days.

Police Director Patrick Grady stated, “As a dog lover amongst many other dog lovers, we were not going to make that puppy wait in a shelter or pound.”
“I want to commend all the officers and staff who went above and beyond to care for this dog while still performing their duties. Koko was living her best life inside the dispatch room for the last 3 days and hopefully, it will get even better being reunited with her family again.”
When the owners arrived at the police headquarters, they were happily reunited with their dog Koko and officers said Koko ran straight to its owners.
The owners were extremely grateful for the care and compassion the Clark Police showed for their dog.
It’s still not clear how the dog ended up the approxiametly 1,500 miles away.
