RICHMOND, Texas – A triple-fatal crash shut down Highway 90 Alternate in the Richmond area on Sunday and three others are still hospitalized.

What we know:

The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office say the crash happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. between a truck and vehicle Sunday on U.S. 90 between Harlem and Pitts Road.

Officials say there were five people in the vehicle. Of those five, three people were pronounced dead at the scene. Two of the occupants, a 14-year-old female and 4-year-old male, were taken to the hospital, along with the driver of the truck.

The truck driver and two juveniles were last said to be in serious but stable condition.

According to officials, the three killed in the crash were an 18-year-old female driver, a 22-year-old male passenger, and a 44-year-old female passenger.

A deputy is stationed at the hospital while the investigation is ongoing.

The sheriff’s office is working with the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office and charges are expected to be filed as officials believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

What we don’t know:

The identities of the victims are not being released at this time.
