Curtis Meeks is among 33 people allegedly involved in an illegal poker scheme tied to former NBA players.

AUSTIN, Texas — Federal court documents obtained by KVUE reveal that one of 33 people indicted in a “rigged poker” scheme involving former NBA players Chauncey Billups and Damon Jones has been arrested in Georgetown.

According to the indictment, Curtis Meeks, 41, is accused of helping others use cheating technology in the operation. Prosecutors allege the 33 defendants and their co-conspirators rigged poker games across the United States, deceiving participants who believed they were playing in fair, underground games.

All 33 suspects have been arrested and charged in connection with the scheme, which the indictment states was linked to one of the world’s most notorious criminal networks.

Members and associates of the Lucchese, Bonanno, Gambino, and Genovese crime families allegedly supported and protected the games, ensuring debts were settled afterward.

Meeks faces wire fraud and money laundering conspiracy charges.

The rigged poker operations are accused of cheating victims out of more than $7 million since 2019.
