For over half a century, kayaks and canoes have taken to the Houston waterway for a fun-spirited day of competition. From its rag-tag beginnings 54 years ago to its status today as a major Houston milestone, the Buffalo Bayou Partnership Regatta is a 15-mile race along Buffalo Bayou in a series of solo, tandem, and team competitions. The event expects to draw in hundreds of participants from ear and far – and even more spectators.

For visitors, the event will feature a festive atmosphere complete with food trucks, refreshments, and all sorts of activities offered by local businesses.
Registration is still open as of this article for those ready to hit the water! Sign up by 11:59 pm on March 19 to secure the $60 early-bird rate; after that, the price increases to $65, with registration remaining open until 8:45 am on race day (Saturday, March 21).
Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a casual paddler, you can choose from various competitive and non-competitive categories. If you don’t have your own boat, rentals are available for an additional fee.

The annual regatta takes place from 8 am – 2:30 pm on Saturday, March 21. The starting line of the race is located just west of Voss St. at 7700 San Felipe St. The race will conclude at 1005 Commerce St. at Allen’s Landing.
Following the competition, officials will host an awards ceremony at Allen’s Landing around 1:30 pm.
