Loop 1604 frontage roads at Blanco Road for March 20-23 work

SAN ANTONIO – Drivers who use Loop 1604 and Blanco Road on the North Side should plan for a full weekend of detours later this month as crews continue work on the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project.

The Texas Department of Transportation said the eastbound and westbound Loop 1604 frontage roads at Blanco Road, as well as Blanco Road at Loop 1604, will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2026, until 5 a.m. Monday, March 23, 2026, weather permitting.

During the closure, TxDOT said the affected areas will be limited to local destination trips only, with no through traffic approaching Blanco Road on the Loop 1604 frontage roads and no through traffic approaching Loop 1604 on Blanco Road.

DETOURS

Eastbound Loop 1604 frontage road: Drivers will keep left to enter the Blanco Road bypass. Drivers can return to the eastbound Loop 1604 frontage road by keeping right, or enter the eastbound Loop 1604 mainlanes by keeping left. Drivers exiting the Vineyard Shopping Center onto the westbound Loop 1604 frontage road who want to access eastbound Loop 1604 will follow the westbound frontage road to the U-turn at Huebner Road, then enter the eastbound Loop 1604 frontage road.Westbound Loop 1604 frontage road: Drivers will keep left to enter the Blanco Road bypass. Drivers can return to the westbound Loop 1604 frontage road by keeping right, or enter the westbound Loop 1604 mainlanes by keeping left.Northbound Blanco Road: Drivers looking to continue through the Loop 1604 interchange will drive south on Blanco Road, then turn right onto Huebner Road. Drivers will follow Huebner Road through the Loop 1604 intersection to Blanco Road.Southbound Blanco Road: Drivers looking to continue through the Loop 1604 interchange will drive north on Blanco Road, then turn left onto Huebner Road. Drivers will follow Huebner Road through the Loop 1604 intersection to Blanco Road.
