One Battle After Another, (Leonardo DiCaprio, Benecio Del Toro, Sean Penn), was partially filmed in El Paso. The movie scored 6 out of 13 Oscar awards

A local business helped, (literally), build the success of that movie – The Red Door Vintage & Horror.

One Battle After Another is about a group of ex – revolutionaries trying to save the life of their members’ daughter. David Gonzalez from The Cinematic Reel called it “the defining film of a generation.”

El Pasoan Leticia Pena spent about 3 months helping One Battel After Another with furniture, lights and rentals along with other props. Letty is truly an unsung hero with regard to the success of this film. She’s in the credits though … bottom right.

The “best actor”, “best director”, “best film score”, “best whatever” awards always get all the attention but, without Letty and her behind the scenes peers and cohorts; we’d be pretty bored watching the actors roam through empty rooms and hallways. That, or we’d be giggling at set pieces not right for the time period or place being depicted.

Not only is Letty local, she supports local. She told me that “most of the scenes you see here in El Paso are items purchased locally and the money spent was within our city”. Check out Letty’s work and some behind the scenes shots …

Leticia is also the owner of The Red Door Vintage & Horror, located on the west side, inside the Shops At Solana. (750 Sunland Park Drive). You can call or text them at (915) 226-1923 or message them on Facebook. For better pics, hit ’em up on Instagram.

One Battle After Another Fun Fact

According to Letty; a major riot scene was shot inside the Shops At Solana and featured several Solano merchants but didn’t make the final cut. Maybe we’ll see it some day on a directors cut or behind the scenes special release.

The Red Door is THE place to find vintage, cool or downright creepy stuff and Letty does more than just own it; she’s also a makeup and special effects wiz. She rents stuff too so, if you need special pieces or artwork for a photo shoot, video project or your own film; she’s your gal.
