A San Francisco-area born restaurant chain is looking to expand to Texas.

What you need to know

Officials with Starbird announced plans to expand with new locations in San Antonio and across Texas after signing a 36-unit franchise agreement with the Houston-based Mac Haik Restaurant Group, according to a news release.

Starbird CEO Greg Levin said the agreement reflects the strength of their business model and the clarity of their long-term vision.

“As we mark our 10th anniversary, this is shaping up to be our biggest year yet in terms of expansion,” Levin said in the release.

While no specific locations have been identified, company officials said nothing will open until at least 2027 in San Antonio.

“Texas is a critical market for us moving forward, and partnering with an experienced organization like Mac Haik Restaurant Group allows us to grow thoughtfully while staying true to what makes Starbird special,” Levin said in the release.

In the future, an expansion to Dallas and Fort Worth is also likely, according to the release.
