SEGUIN, Texas – A high-speed pursuit involving a black Mustang ended in a crash at a Seguin intersection Monday evening, leading to the arrest of a San Antonio man now facing multiple felony charges, according to the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said that on March 16, 2026, at about 6:25 p.m., deputies responded to assist the San Antonio Police Department with a pursuit of a black Mustang traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 near the 591 mile marker.
Deputies said the driver, identified as John Guajardo, 41, of San Antonio, failed to stop and continued at high speeds, reaching more than 100 mph.
Authorities said the pursuit continued onto Farm-to-Market Road 725 southbound and went through multiple intersections in the Seguin area before the Mustang collided with another vehicle at the intersection of North Austin Street and West Krezdorn Street.
Guajardo was taken into custody without incident in the 800 block of North Austin Street, the sheriff’s office said. A passenger in the Mustang, Frances Lerma, 39, of San Antonio, suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 42-year-old Seguin man, complained of neck and back pain and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, according to the sheriff’s office.
Guajardo was charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was transported to the Guadalupe County Jail.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains active and thanked the San Antonio Police Department, Seguin Police Department, and Schertz Police Department for their coordination.
