Authorities are working to identify a woman whose body was discovered Tuesday afternoon in Mulberry Creek near the Autauga and Dallas County line.
According to the Autauga County Sheriff’s Office, railroad workers with Norfolk Southern made the discovery around 3:15 p.m. on March 17. Deputies responded to the scene and confirmed the body was that of an unidentified female.
Investigators say the woman’s cause of death is not yet known, and her race has not been determined at this time. Officials also note the location of the discovery raises questions about where the woman may have entered the water.
Mulberry Creek runs through multiple counties, and authorities say the body could have traveled from Dallas, Chilton, or Autauga County.
The case is currently being treated as a death investigation, pending an autopsy and positive identification.
Anyone who may have information about the woman’s identity is urged to contact the Autauga County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators ask that tips be directed to Investigator Watts at 334-361-2500.
