DALLAS FESTIVAL OF COLORS
This 16th annual celebration of the Hindu festival of colors, a.k.a. Holi Mela, is moving this year from its longtime home at Southfork Ranch to Myers Park in McKinney. Marking the arrival of spring, the festival is awash in colorful powder that participants throw to spread joy and happiness, so choose your clothing with that in mind. It’s a good idea to bring a towel or other covering for your car seat for the ride home as well as a bag to protect your cellphone. In addition to the colorful spectacle, guests will find food and drinks, a vendor bazaar, dance performances, a live DJ, face-painting, free yoga classes, a tug-of-love competition (like tug-of-war, but with friendlier vibes), a photo booth and more. The first 500 guests will get free T-shirts. Organizers stress that the event, known for its spirit of inclusivity, is open to everyone.
March 21 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Myers Park in McKinney. General admission is $12.51. Free for children 9 and under. Cabana rentals are also available. dallasfestivalofcolors.com.
