ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington women’s tennis is set for a home bout with the Abilene Christian Wildcats at 2 p.m. Friday at the UTA Tennis Center. The Mavericks are looking to respond after dropping their last two matches.

UTA (3-10) is coming off a 4-1 loss to Tarleton State on March 13 and a 4-0 sweep on the road coming at the hands of Texas State the next day. The Mavericks lone point against Tarleton State came courtesy of Tasnime Ahamout who knocked off Duru Kuscu in straight sets on singles Court 6.

None of the singles matches against Tarleton State reached a decisive third set. Elizaveta Mladentseva and Natalia Gonzalez each won the first set of their bouts on Court 2 and Court 5 respectively, but the matchups were left unfinished in the second set after the Texans clinched the match on Court 4.

The Mavericks made a few bids at points against Texas State, but the match ended with all of them unfinished. Singles Court 1 ended in the middle of the second set with Diana Kaibara having beaten the Bobcats’ Emily Niers 7-5 in the opener.

Gonzalez again was ahead in her Court 5 bout, winning the first set of her match 6-3 before it was left unfinished with the UTA freshman behind 5-4. Sofia Selle and Texas State’s Stoney Cooks traded wins in the first two sets but the matchup was called off before the third and final set could begin.

Abilene Christian leads the all-time series against UTA 4-1. The Wildcats have won the last three matchups against the Mavericks, including both games in 2025. UTA’s lone win against Abilene Christian came in 2023.
