Travis Haecker is accused of withdrawing cash and making unauthorized purchases from CC Citizens Police Academy Alumni Inc.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A former Corpus Christi police officer pleaded not guilty Thursday for misusing nonprofit funds from the CC Citizens Police Academy Alumni Inc. for personal expenses.

Travis Haecker is awaiting a trial date in connection with allegations that he withdrew $1,200 in cash through six ATM transactions, failed to deposit donated funds promptly, and made unauthorized debit card purchases at a vape shop and a gambling website.

Detectives said Haecker was the only police officer authorized to possess a debit or credit card linked to the nonprofit’s Value Bank account.

According to an affidavit obtained by 3NEWS, the funds were originally collected during a motorcycle rodeo tied to the Texas Police Games.

Organizers planned to use the remaining proceeds to create a scholarship honoring fallen officer Vicente Ortiz, a 15-year veteran of the Corpus Christi Police Department who died in 2024 while assisting with traffic control during a funeral procession.

The CC Citizens Police Academy Alumni Inc. is a nonprofit of graduates from the department’s Citizens Police Academy.

It supports law enforcement-related community programs and operates independently of the police department, though some officers serve as liaisons.
