Oct 25, 2025 10:53 AM EDTKey PointsRepresentatives for Texas coach Steve Sarkisian reportedly expressed NFL job interest, including the Titans.Texas potentially becoming a coaching vacancy would dominate the college football hiring market.Reactions are mixed amid speculation; some praise and others criticize Sarkisian’s college performance.
Steve Sarkisian’s future at Texas has suddenly become the No. 1 topic in college football this Saturday.
Just hours before Texas takes the field against Mississippi State, a bombshell report about Sarkisian came to light. Dianna Russini of The Athletic said representatives for the Texas coach have let NFL teams know that he’d be interested in a few job openings this upcoming offseason. The Tennessee Titans were named as a potential option for Sarkisian.
The Titans fired Brian Callahan after a 4-19 start to his tenure. The front office desperately wants a coach capable of maximizing Cam Ward’s potential. Would Sarkisian be the right coach for him? We’re not sure, but that pairing would be interesting.
Sarkisian returning to the NFL would be interesting, make no mistake about it. The majority of the football world is more concerned with Texas though.
There are a plethora of marquee programs looking for a new coach, including Florida and Penn State. Imagine adding Texas to the mix?

Texas would become No. 1 job opening.
“This was already going to be a crazy coaching carousel,” Nicole Auerbach of NBC Sports said. “If Texas opens as well…”
“I would like this hire quite a bit for the Titans. I also think it’s bad news for any college with an opening if Texas comes open. It’s probably the best job in America at the moment,” Kevin Clark of ESPN wrote on X.
“If you’re Texas, how hard are you fighting to keep the offensive whiz and QB guru who has turned two straight 5-star quarterbacks into… that?” Tom Orr of BuckeyeHuddle.com asked.
“If he wants to jump ship, good riddance. He made a mistake with Arch, failed catastrophically to replace the OL, and now wants out because he’s not getting it done at the level we expect. Go get Jon Sumerall and call it a day,” one person said.
“Dude has ruined back-to-back five star QBs and his offense is T. R. A. S. H. What NFL team in their right mind would hire Sark,” another person commented.
Sarkisian was a quarterbacks coach for the Oakland Raiders and offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons.
Only time will tell if NFL teams are truly interested in Sarkisian.
