A 60-year-old man is accused of impersonating a lawyer, reaching out to people in the Tarrant County Jail, and stealing $3,000 from their family members.
FORT WORTH, Texas — The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man accused of impersonating a lawyer to steal thousands of dollars from the families of people incarcerated in the Tarrant County Jail, officials said.Â
Deputies launched an investigation into 60-year-old Ramond Davis Jr, who is accused of fraudulently representing himself as a licensed attorney to steal from people in jail, the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.Â
Davis is accused of contacting people in the Tarrant County Jail to offer legal services before meeting with the jailed person’s family and collecting $3,000 in exchange for supposed legal representation, the release states.Â
Investigators found, however, that Davis is not a liscensed attorney, officials said. He was arrested and multiple chages are pending against him, the release states.Â
The department did not say how much money Davis may have stolen from people in the jail.Â
Officials believe that there may be other victims, according to the release. Anyone who was contacted by Davis is asked to contact the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office.Â
