SAN ANTONIO – The UTSA men’s tennis team will look to keep the momentum going, as they head to Abilene, Texas, to face Abilene Christian on Friday at 1 p.m. inside the Judi and Cecil Eager Tennis Pavilion. The ‘Runners will then take on Texas Tech, Sunday at noon at the McLeon Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners (3-10) carry momentum into the match after taking down Louisiana, 6-1, and Southern Miss, 4-0, in their last two contests.
UTSA has now won three of its last four, as sophomore Oskar Grzegorzewski has improved to 6-5 in singles play after a slow start to the season, going 6-3 in the squad’s last 10 matches. Freshman Maximilian Ontiveros has been hot as well, now logging five wins across the campaign, with Constantin Radu and newcomer Timeo Bretin each at four. In doubles play, Ontiveros and sophomore Ben Chetwey Ungar have three victories for the team’s best.
The Wildcats (4-6) are looking to bounce back after falling to No. 8 Baylor in their last bout.
Luis Jose Nakamine tops the squad with a 6-3 record, while Jorge Aza is 5-4 and Dennis Dutiné is 4-5. In doubles, Marse Deli and Jorge Aza lead the way at 3-5.
The Red Raiders (9-7) are on a three-game skid and will take on No. 36 Oklahoma State on Saturday before hosting the ‘Runners.
Felipe Pagnacco tops the squad with a 20-9 record, while Niksa Arsic, Thomas VanDen Dooren and Thiago Guglieri each own 13 wins. In doubles, Arsic and Guglieri have a sensational 16-8 mark.
