One person was transported to the hospital after Lake Cities firefighters and Lake Dallas Police responded to a house fire Thursday night. As of 11 p.m., the person’s condition was unknown.
The call came in just after 7 p.m. in the 600 block of Moseley Street. Lake Dallas officials said firefighters encountered a single-family home in flames. Mutual aid came in from the Highland Village and Lewisville fire departments.
Flames and heavy smoke are seen coming from the house in cellphone footage shared with NBC 5.
Lake Dallas officials said they took an aggressive approach to prevent the fire from spreading to other homes.
Neighbors nearby described hearing what they said sounded like an explosion before seeing the first responders.
“It was like a ‘poom,’ like when a balloon pops. Like that. But hearing it was not compared to the feeling. I mean I was laying down and it shook the whole house. I thought our house was going to collapse,” said Thomas Morales.
An active investigation is underway as officials work to determine the cause of the fire.
