In Thursday’s high school varsity girls soccer action, Sandwich made program history in their inaugural match while Plano delivered a dominant performance.
Sandwich took the field for the first time ever as a varsity girls soccer program, falling 8-0 to IMSA. Despite the final score, the Indians showed early resilience, holding IMSA to just two goals by halftime after only two weeks of practice and learning the sport. Haylie Lilliebridge led Sandwich with four shots on goal, while Alivia Kellog added one shot. In the net, Shayla Green recorded an impressive 23 saves in the loss, highlighting a strong individual effort in the program’s historic debut.
Meanwhile, Plano cruised to a 6-0 shutout victory over the Serena co-op team, powered by Azaleah Salgado’s hat trick with three goals. Alizee Alamo added two goals, and Lamiya House contributed another in the decisive win for the Reapers.
