Houston police say the victim is a Scarborough High School student.
HOUSTON — A high school student was shot Thursday afternoon after getting off a school bus in northwest Houston, according to HISD.
The shooting happened near Benbrook Elementary School, where the bus had stopped around dismissal time. District officials say the student, who goes Scarborough High School, was shot by a fellow student after getting off the bus.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg. No one on the bus was injured.
During the investigation, Benbrook Elementary was placed on lockdown while an after-school program was in progress.
HISD police are investigating and say they have identified a juvenile suspect.Â
