No injuries were reported from a Friday morning fire in Benbrook that caused a small propane tank to explode, officials said.

The Benbrook Fire Department was called to the backyard of a house in the 1600 block of South Timber Court shortly after 10 a.m. Heavy smoke and fire were coming from an outside storage building, Fire Chief Jason Tate said.

The Fort Worth Fire Department also responded to the scene, and the blaze “was quickly and safely contained,” according to Tate. The cause of the fire is still undetermined.

Residents posted on social media about hearing a loud explosion in the area, some from miles away. Tate said the blaze caused a small propane tank to explode while the firefighters were still at the scene.

None of the residents in the neighborhood were injured, according to Tate, and one dog was rescued from the house.

In a separate incident on Thursday night, a house exploded during a fire in Lake Dallas, officials said. That fire occurred about 7 p.m. in the 600 block of Moseley Street. One injured person was transported from the Lake Dallas home to a hospital.

The cause of the Lake Dallas fire is under investigation, but gas leaks have been reported in the city in the past couple of days. Some residents were asked to leave their homes on Friday while city officials and Atmos Energy investigate.
