Traffic alert for Fort Worth drivers heading to Denton or farther north this weekend: All lanes of northbound I-35W will be closed from the I-35E/I-35W interchange to Oak Street in Denton from 9 pm Friday, March 20, to 5 am Saturday, March 21, TxDOT says.
“Signed detours will be in place,” TxDOT says in an advisory. “Drivers can expect delays through the area and should plan extra travel time.”
This work is part of the ongoing $583 million I-35E/I-35W merge improvement project awarded to SEMA Construction Inc. Overall completion is expected in Fall 2029.
The weekend closure comes on the heels of a partial highway shutdown in Denton due to high winds on Sunday, March 15.
