The current record price for a Grand Champion steer at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo sits at $1,000,000.

HOUSTON — The Junior Market Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion steers have been chosen at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and now they’re headed to auction.

The Grand Champion steer, Zinger, was shown by Mason Grady, of Grandview, Texas.

The Reserve Grand Champion steer, named Ryan, was shown by Jett Hale of Miami, Texas. The Rodeo highlighted Hale’s battle with cancer, noting he’s been named Reserve Grand Champion at least three times.


The auction will take place at 11 a.m. and you can submit your bids online on DVAuction.com.


Current Junior Market Steer Auction Records

The current record price for a Grand Champion steer at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo sits at $1,000,000. The record was initially set in 2022 and was tied in 2024.

Hale set the record for Reserve Grand Champion steer last year, when his steer, Mike, went for $690,000.
