An overnight raid at an after-hours club on the northeast side of town landed one person in custody, Houston police said.
According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to an after-hours club in the 6500 block of Laura Koppe Road with a search warrant after they received numerous complaints from neighbors.
Officers said they found between 75 and 90 people inside, who began to run out as soon as police entered the building.
According to HPD, officers have a man in custody related to the business.
According to HPD, neighbors told police they were tired of the late-night sounds and incidents.
“They’re tired of the screeching tires. They’re tired of gunshots happening, crime, and other related incidents that happen because of these late-night clubs that are operating without a permit,” HPD Capt. French said. “So this is our response to that. We hear the people that are complaining about it, and we’re doing something about it.”
ABC13 spoke with one of the neighbors, who said this has been an issue in the area for months.
“My desire is that somebody would come here and decide, ‘OK, enough is enough, let’s shut this down because it’s too dangerous,'” the neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, said.
Officials did not immediately release what charges the man in custody is facing.
