Texas A&M basketball is seeking its first Sweet 16 in almost a decade, but a formidable foe stands in the way.
The Aggies continue their March Madness journey Saturday against the Houston Cougars. The Texas-based schools are just about 100 miles apart, but their recent success might as well be on opposite sides of the state.
A&M coach Bucky McMillan is in his first season, leading the Aggies to a 10th seed. A&M hasn’t won multiple NCAA Tournament games in one year since 2018. Kelvin Sampson is in his 12th season with Houston, earning a two seed this year. The veteran coach is still looking for his elusive first title. But he has two Final Fours to his credit since 2021 and has been a mainstay in the Sweet 16. Â
Texas A&M will face Houston 5:10 p.m. at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City.
The Aggies-Cougars will be nationally broadcast with Brandon Gaudin, Chris Webber, Andy Katz on the call.
