A child died after a car crashed into a wall late Saturday night on U.S. 75 in Dallas, police said. The highway was shut down overnight as a result of the crash.

DALLAS — A child died after a vehicle crashed into a wall on US 75, causing the highway to shut down overnight, police said. 

Officers responded around 10:05 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, in the southbound lanes of US 75 near Midpark Road, the Dallas Police Department said in a press release. 

Investigators found that a car had collided with a wall, the release states. 

The driver and a child passenger were taken to a hospital, where the child died from their injuries, police said. 

Police are investigating the incident, the release states.Â
