Vice President JD Vance is set to visit Austin on Monday, with expected traffic disruptions near the airport and downtown.

Vance is scheduled to headline a Republican National Committee fundraiser before traveling to additional events in Dallas and Nashville, according to the Financial Times.

City officials say the visit will bring rolling road closures and delays that could stretch into Tuesday morning.

Street closures are planned Monday morning near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Downtown, Cesar Chavez Street from Brazos Street to Interstate 35 will be closed from noon Monday until 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Vance’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the purpose of his visit.
