SAN Antonio (KTSA News) — Two men accused of breaking into cars on the Far West Side are dead after a police chase early Sunday morning.
A call was made to police around 4 a.m. from someone who said they saw two people driving near Culebra Road and Kallison Road. Upon arrival, deputies with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) were told two males were checking car doors while riding in an older Toyota.
According to BCSO, the suspects were walking onto driveways and entering some vehicles. When the first deputy arrived, the suspect vehicle sped away. The deputy gave chase but lost sight of the suspects.
Moments later, a second deputy arrived on the scene and saw what looked like the same Toyota speeding on Culebra.
By the time deputies caught up to the suspect vehicle, a crash had already happened and two men were lying on the ground suffering from serious injuries. Both would soon be pronounced dead before arriving at a hospital.
In the aftermath of the crash, investigators confirm a number of cars were burglarized in the area Sunday morning.
