State authorities say an apparent domestic disturbance ended with two people fatally struck by a vehicle and another seriously injured after being attacked Saturday evening in Crosby County.
Investigators believe the incident started about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, when a 2010 Ford F-150 stopped along County Road 105 just south of County Road 118 and all occupants exited the vehicle, according to a statement from the Texas Department of Public Safety. That’s when a physical altercation began among the occupants.
The driver, 49-year-old Luis Alejandro Poot-Sosa of Lorenzo, drove away from the scene, leaving the occupants on the side of the road.
He returned to the area to retrieve them, but as he approached the scene the vehicle struck two of the pedestrians – 52-year-old Yrma Linda Reyes-Chavez of Lorenzo and 60-year-old Iren Ramirez-Reyes of Lubbock. Both would be pronounced dead at the scene. Another pedestrian at the scene, 49-year-old Sergio Torres of Levelland, was not injured.
The DPS report states Poot-Sosa was subsequently assaulted by the family of the deceased at the scene. He was taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock for serious bodily injuries.
Other information about the circumstances leading to the incident, including the collision, were not immediately clear as the investigation is ongoing. Authorities by Sunday had not identified any of the other people or family members at the scene and had not announced any arrests or charges.
