It was a day to forget for Dallas Trinity FC.
League-leaders Sporting JAX took it to the hosts in a 4-0 drubbing at the Sunday at the Cotton Bowl. It is their first home defeat since a 2-0 loss to Jacksonville in November and marks Dallas’ worst competitive home loss in club history.
The first half was closely contested, but Jacksonville made its opportunities count and scored twice shortly before the break. Forward Baylee DeSmit opened the scoring with a precise finish to cap off a deft passing combination in the 45th minute. Her strike partner Paige Kenton spectacularly notched a second two minutes later.

The visitors scored twice more before it was all said and done with midfielders Sophia Boman and Meg Hughes finding the back of the net in the second half.
The lopsided result came despite evenly matched statistics going forward with both teams managing 12 shots and Jacksonville only edging Dallas 6-4 in shots on target.
The loss continues Trinity’s uneven form since the appointment of head coach Nathan Thackeray. The squad have gone 2-3-2 in his seven competitive games in charge. They sit fourth in the league standings, holding on to the final playoff spot by three points ahead of DC Power FC.
