THREE RIVERS, Texas — The City of Three Rivers has been notified of a change in operations at Choke Canyon Reservoir.

In a press release on Monday, the City of Three Rivers said City of Corpus Christi, which manages the reservoir, announced it will release more water to Lake Corpus Christi, leaving Three Rivers unable to draw water as previously planned.

City of Three Rivers said this change was unexpected. In January 2026, the city was told water would be available through April and May 2027.

Three Rivers is securing alternative water sources and accelerating its second and third water supply options to maintain service and stability. City staff is working with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to ensure all regulatory requirements are met.

City officials said they will continue to provide updates as the situation develops.
